A protection scheme based on impedance for LV and MV lines in microgrids with high-impedance fault detection capability

Microgrid properties including bidirectional power flow in feeders, fault level decrease the islanded mode, and intermittent nature of distributed generators (DGs) result malfunctioning microgrid conventional protection schemes. In present article, a scheme based on impedance is suggested for detection LV MV overhead cable distribution lines both grid-connected modes. To determine index, new equivalent circuits doubly fed are applied. Relay location data magnitude positive sequence voltage other end line used. It simulated by PSCAD MATLAB software order to evaluate its performance approve validity. This can detect even high-impedance faults grid connected modes lines. addition, it robust against load generation uncertainty network reconfigurations. Low sampling rate minimum exchange among advantages proposed scheme.
